Working a Bolt Action Lefty Style
Hi Folks,
I was asked on another board about sling positions and how do I work the bolt action on a rifle, anyway, without dismounting from my shoulder? I took pics and figured I'd post them here as well in the hopes it might help someone. Hasty Hasty sling: Hasty sling: I hope this was informative. A lefty bolt is nice, but not necessary, and the lefty need not suffer due to a bolt action on the wrong side! Regards, Josh |

yeah I got by for several years
even did my hunting qualifications with a rh rifle but a proper lh is sooo much nicer I would never go back. guess those old time surplus rifles don't have the option thou but for hunting I think it is a disadvantage and in this day and age with affordable even cheap options out there don't handicapp yourself. |

Hello,
I've seen those pieces. They're neat, but I'm just not a fan. When you operate a bolt action by lifting up, the rifle tilts slightly inboard. You control this with your chin if you're a lefty shooting a lefty rifle or a righty shooting a righty rifle. When you're a lefty and you reach over, your left arm controls that tendency for the rifle to tilt. For me at least, pulling a knob down to unlock the action keeps anything from blocking the tilt tendency and messes with shoulder/buttstock alignment. Your mileage may vary, of course. Regards, Josh |

I seem to recall a surplus rifle in a handmade stock that turned the rifle upside down so to fit a lefthanded shooter but I can't find it, looked horrible
