Smith and Wesson M&P

Does anyone know if S&W makes a Two tone M&P. I Can find the dark earth but I want the black polymer grip and either stainless or nickel slide? Also where would I be able to find one? Thanks

Not sure if they make one but the slide is stainless so you could polish it.
I have done the barrel and mags on mine

Nice job, really looks great. I own two M&P .40 full sized
and a compact for carry. Always loved the M&P, myself
I have never seen one with a stainless (color) slide, but
you did a nice job on yours it just adds a nice touch.

Thanks I used a polishing kit that attaches to a bench grinder. 3 different grade mops and 2 grades of compound.
I stripped the mags first then removed the blueing/coating with the coarse mop and then moved on to the finer ones once it had all gone. There are a few hard to get angles but if you keep at it you can get it all off. It took me around 2hrs to do the barrel, take down leaver and 2 mags.
The mags feed so much better in the mag well too.

Looks great.

I did not know that the mags were s.s.

Are others that are just blue?

Cabela's used to offer them but now I don't see them any longer. You could always send the slide to Bowie Tactical and it looks like for $20, they will oxide blast the slide leaving it stainless. Here's there link:

Mine is electroless nickel boron finished but they do make a stainless version. As mentioned earlier, they used to be a Cabelas exclusive but many other retailers have them now.

The mags appear to have the same Melonite coating as the standard M&P slide. I've never seen M&P mags that appeared to be blued or natural SS.

To more directly address the OP's question...

The S&W website shows a Talo distributor-exclusive M&P9 FS and M&P40 FS with nickel-boron slide finish.

You will have to contact Talo, look on their website, and/or call your local gun stores to find out where Talo guns are available.

As Ploufedaddy mentioned, IIRC the M&P9 FS and M&P40 FS were available as a Cabela's distributor exclusive in 2009 with stainless slides. AFAIK these guns simply had a natural satin SS finish rather than a nickel boron coating like the current ones; however, I had trouble finding out the straight dope at the time.

Ploufe, I've not seen a nickel boron M&P45; is that custom?

Although this may be slight thread drift, the FDE frame with black slide has been offered on various flavors of the M&P45 for several years now, but it's only been offered on the M&P9 FS and M&P40 FS as part of the Cabela's distributor exclusive Range & Carry Kit; FWIW many of these kits were shipped with black backstrap inserts due to a shortage of matching FDE inserts. AFAIK the FDE frame and slide has only been offered on the M&P9 VTAC. Finally, AFAIK no two-tone version of the M&P9c, M&P40c, Shield, or M&P357 of any type has been offered.
