Quickload info on .30-30 win
Hello;
I am attempting to load a round for my dads old Winchester model 54 in 30-30 win. I would like to use the Sierra 168 gr. HPBT using RL-15 or Varget powders, however I can not locate any info in the manuals for those combinations. The information that I do have follows: Water and case weight 175.6 gr. Empty case weight 129.9 gr. Case length 2.028 Bullet length 1.125 COL 2.778 Seating depth .455 Any information on a starting charge using the above stated powders would save me time and energy!! Thanks in advance.

Use data for 170 gr bullets.
Lyman says the load for Rx15 with the 170 gr FP is 29.0 gr min, 32.0 gr max. Sorry, no data for Varget.

Loads listed are estimated maximum loads. Reduce by 10% and work up. Use data at your own risk.

I have been working up a load with a 30-30 in a strong action. Quickload says I am at 92 kpsi. I can't fit any more W748 behind a 220 gr bullet. I would like to go higher in pressure. |
