Apparently local liberals think that allowing people to handle guns is a Gander Mt. or any other gun store. witch means that all of the guns will need to be locked and behind a counter. Welcome to TFL. We've got a very good group of people here whose interests and knowledge span the breadth and depth of firearms history and usage.

We've only got a few simple rules of decorum here, including:

"2) Language that would be inappropriate in the polite company of strangers is quite unwelcome here."

That includes inventive attempts to get around the language strictures with phonetic spelling or creatively substituting characters or numbers for letters.

Assembly Bill 1326, sponsored by Assemblyman Steve Englebright (D-4), would mandate handguns be equipped with technology which would prevent them from being operated by children.

Assembly Bill 2881, sponsored by State Assemblyman David Koon (D-135), would ban the possession and use of "frangible" ammunition. The companion bill for AB 2881 is Senate Bill 2379, sponsored by State Senator Frank Padavan (R-11).

Assembly Bill 2882, sponsored by State Assemblyman David Koon (D-135) would provide for the submission of expended projectiles and shell casings and guns to the state police pistol and revolver ballistic identification electronic databank

Assembly Bill 5844, sponsored by State Assemblyman Harvey Weisenberg (D-20), would enact the "children's weapon accident prevention act" and creates crimes of failure to store a weapon safely and negligent storage. The companion bill for AB 5844 is Senate Bill 3098, sponsored by State Senator Eric Schneiderman (D-31).

The following anti-gun bill is scheduled to be heard by the Assembly Tourism Committee on Tuesday, April 7:

Assembly Bill 7183, sponsored by State Assemblyman Steve Englebright (D-4), prohibits the possession of concealed firearms in any park, campground or other recreation area.

It is section 903 of the first listed bill that the OP is concerned with:

903. SECURITY. EVERY DEALER SHALL IMPLEMENT A SECURITY PLAN FOR SECURING FIREARMS, RIFLES AND SHOTGUNS, INCLUDING FIREARMS, RIFLES AND SHOTGUNS IN SHIPMENT. THE PLAN MUST SATISFY AT LEAST THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:

1. DISPLAY CASES SHALL BE LOCKED AT ALL TIMES EXCEPT WHEN REMOVING A SINGLE FIREARM, RIFLE OR SHOTGUN TO SHOW A CUSTOMER, AND CUSTOMERS SHALL HANDLE FIREARMS, RIFLES OR SHOTGUNS ONLY UNDER THE DIRECT SUPERVISION OF AN EMPLOYEE;

2. ALL FIREARMS, RIFLES AND SHOTGUNS SHALL BE SECURED, OTHER THAN DURING BUSINESS HOURS, IN A LOCKED FIREPROOF SAFE OR VAULT IN THE LICENSEE'S BUSINESS PREMISES OR IN A SIMILAR SECURED AND LOCKED AREA; AND

3. AMMUNITION SHALL BE STORED SEPARATELY FROM THE FIREARMS, RIFLES AND SHOTGUNS AND OUT OF REACH OF THE CUSTOMERS.

While onerous enough in its own right, section 902, which requires a $1 million bond would seem to violate the Lawfull Commerce in Arms Act, since it requires liability insurance for any supposed misuse of the firearm after a lawful sale.

In NJ, at my local shop, they don't take a gun out of the case unless you have a handgun purchasing permit on hand. This is different from the FPID that you have to generally get to buy any weapon. NJ requires each purchase of a handgun to have its own permit, they aren't quick to get (1month+), and expire in 90 days, so random purchases of handguns don't really happen. In a similar vein, the same shop does not rent out handguns either.

Same here in Oz, If you dont have a pistol licence, you cant TOUCH a handgun in a gun shop or gun show. A gunshop owner can get it out and show it to you, but you cant lay a finger on it :barf:
