Rifle STORAGE

Ok....stupid question

How do you guys store your rifle in a case?
I have a Remington 700 with a vs-3 leupold and a harris brms bipod.

I tried to close the case, with the bipod attached to the rifle and it wouldn't close without pressure. I was afraid I would screw up the swival stud, or put non needed tension on the rifle stock barrel...etc

So I was curious how do you guys store your rifle and what cases do you use?

Hunter is correct. You need air to circulate around the weapon. Any trapped moisture in the case will cause the weapon to rust.

Storing a rifle in a foam-lined case can cause rust and pitting due to the foam absorbing moisture. If you don't have a gun safe or a gun cabinet, you can store it in the case inside a silicone-impregnated gun sock, or wipe it down with Outer's Gun Grease (since RIG is now history).
