Best 9mm range gun? - Page 2

I have the steel Baby Eagle, live it! By farmyard favorite gun to shoot. I always walk away smiling. It's a CZ75 clone/variant. If I didn't have that, I would definitely look at buying a CZ without hesitation!

If this is for you, other's personal preferences mean nothing. It would be the one you shoot the best, and therefore would enjoy, and shoot more!

Any suggested 'best range gun' should have a quality trigger. The Hi Power is a great heirloom, duty, or collector gun, but the trigger is a bit heavy to be a top notch range banger.

My S&W 5906 is the perfect range gun IMHO. Tough as nails, accurate, reliable, soft recoil. Also not expensive

I have to agree that the stock right out of the box BHP that I purchased had a rather disappointing trigger pull...however , this can be improved upon which I did ! I really like this pistol....the weight , grip size & comfort , and just the general appeal and quality of it has had me thinking of getting a second one ! My groups have improved a lot with the better trigger and trying out some different ammunition to see what it likes...although , it doesn't seem too picky so far ! Is it the best.....for me it is for my practical intentions for it and its just plain fun to shoot !

It is my favorite range pistol because it is my most accurate, points the best, is a classic/attractive and, most important, is my most accurate. It is pretty much my favorite outdoor/holster carry also.

seriously if I had to pick just one it would be my Buckmark .22. Lots of fun in a inexpensive gun and caliber. In centerfire the CZ 75 9mm hands down. Love those 2 guns.

All are fun in their own way. I guess that is why for guy who thinks of himself as more of a rifle type of guy I ended up with a safe full of pistols LOL

I have several 9mms and can't choose which one I like the best.

I'd say, if I had to, at this point, it's my Beretta 92.

When you say "range gun", to me, I think targets, poppers, steel plates. timed scenarios, Steel & Paper Challenges, distance shots, movers, turners, etc. In my case I became competitive when I got a Glock 34 with Warren Tactical sights.

I have had the opportunity to fire an SA XDm 5.25" 9mm, with a Springer Precision (Bend, OR) tuned trigger that pulled at 3.5 pounds.

I do not have language sufficient to explain my glee.

I'm not a Glock fan ... the 9 that goes with me on every range trip is my XDm-9 with 4.25 inch barrel ... it fits my hand perfectly with the medium backstrap, very accurate and easy to shoot ... If I'd planned ahead, I'd waited for a shorter barrel and would probably be using it for carry ...

Regarding the XD 5 inch in 9mm. If that works for some- that's all well and good. In my case, I did have the XD 5 inch in 9mm, but my scores really took off after getting the G-34 with Warren Tactical sights. It might be an individual thing. One person seems to do better or worse with one brand or another. If the person that bought my XD 5 inch in 9mm told me it's for sale, would I buy it back? Yes- in a split second. I'd like to have it just because it is an outstanding pistol. I'd use it for carry, or the car, or the truck, or at camp. I'd just use the G-34 when it comes to matches.

I shot my new gen4 Glock 34 for the first time today. Only had time for 70 rounds, but it seemed to group well. I forgot the screwdriver for adjusting the rear sight, so I'll have to wait for that. I have a G19, but this was completely different. Will report back.

S&W 5906 for me ,too. Just don't build 'em like that any more. SS, overbuilt, will stand up to anything! They're a tank! Utterly reliable. Police trade ins are some of the best values out there.

We had a Top shot contest at or pistol club. #1 was shooting 9mm H@K USP,#2 was shorting Springfielsd 1911 and #3!was your's truly shooting Walyher PPQ.
Go figure.

92fs. Thousands of rounds through mine without a single failure. Soft shooting as well and could easily shoot a thousand rounds without problem.
