Winchester production dates

A friend of mine has an old Win 1200 and is trying to determine age and value. Is there a site where I can look up the serial or something? I googled but with limited results. Any help is appreciated.

FWIW, Win 1200's were made from 1964 to 1981 in several models/variations, and book anywhere from $100 in 60% original condition to about $300, +/- in 100% (as new, w/box & papers) condition.

Yeah, I knew they weren't worth much, but he's interested in the date. The hunt continues!
