USMC, 200, 300 and 500 with the M16's. I think the Army only goes to 300.

The basic marksmanship used to be...
10 rounds offhand at 200 yards in 10 minutes.
10 rounds in 60 seconds from the sitting position (have to start standing) at 200 yards. 10 rounds in 70 seconds from the prone position (have to start standing) at 300 yards. 20 rounds in 20 minutes from 500 yards. Prone position. 70% was passing. I think I've reversed something here... but it's close. The target in this excercise was a 6 MOA bullseye at 200 and 500 yards, and a "head and shoulders" sillouette (called the "dog" target) for the rapid fires. The NRA "National Match Course" is the same, except all targets are 6 MOA bullseyes. This is my memory of the Marine Corps basic qualification, circa 1969. I think You should be able to find a couple of GI "Field Manuals" that discribe other rifle courses.
