I'm in the market for some muzzle brakes as well. I haven't decided either.

My cousin took the standard slant brake off of his AK style rifle and put a Z-comp on it and said it took his 7.62x39 down to feeling like a .22lr. I haven't had the chance to shoot it yet, but he loves it. I'm not sure if I want to spend that much for my converted Saiga because it's in .223/5.56. Probably spend no more than like $30. On my 7.62x54R I'm probably gonna spend more because that thing kicks like a mule.

For an AR in standard 5.56/.223 I wouldn't really worry too much about top of the line because there is not too much rise or recoil to begin with.

The Lantac Dragon functions very well but it's ridiculously loud for indoor shooting.
