Mech Tech Glock 20?

I've been eyeballing a Glock 20 for quite some time. I've always wanted a 10mm. With conversion barrels, I'd also have an inexpensive outlet for .40 and .357 Sig without needing to buy separate guns. (These are calibers I'd like to be able to shoot should the need or want arise but are far from a primary interest.) I discuss it here:

Glock 20 + Conversion Barrels = Ultimate Semi?

Then I saw this. Mech Tech makes an upper for Glock pistols that supposedly provides similarly seamless transition to a quality pistol carbine. So I've got to ask. Has anyone here done this? Is it great? How do various loadings in 10mm perform? Is it comfortable and accurate to shoot? Any problems?

Thanks.

Member at our matches has the 45 version. He said its great, no issues. If I still had my 21 I would have got one.

On a side note the BATFE 'legalized' it a couple years ago. Previously you could put the upper on the pistol 'receiver' but not revert it back to pistol.

Can you use the G20 lower with a .45 upper if you use the right magazine?

That's a good question. I'd contact MechTech on that one.

I put a 10mm Mech tech upper on a Glock Model 21 and it worked fine, so the reverse should work.

Those are neat. I just picked up a glock 29, would it work on that?

I also have a 1911 45acp version and its great, I like how easy it is to shoot and how simple it is to swap back and forth.

I will give you credit on that one. It is a neat modification of the G20.

That carbine gizmo does indeed intrigue me.

How firmly is the pistol frame attached to the carbine upper? Any wobble? Would you worry about it separating if the whole thing is dropped on a hard floor?

Lockup is solid; there is no wobbling.

I shot one when they first came out.
A fellow at the range asked if I wanted to try it, so we swapped guns for awhile.
Unfortunately, I can't remember for sure what caliber or even what frame it was.
Sorry about that.
Whatever it was, it shot very well out to the max of 50 yds we had.
The only complaint was the first round was a real bear to chamber, and the wire style stock vibrated like a tuning fork, with every shot.
But it was an early model, so maybe those two minor criticisms have been addressed.
Or just get a normal stock, like in the picture, and go to the gym more.
For the price, it seems like a great way to have a pistol and a carbine.
Based on that one experience, if I was in the market for something like this, one would definitely be on its way to the house.
Hope this helps you decide.

I usually don't give a hoot for pistol carbines, but a 10mm is another matter. I always thought it would make a dandy shoulder fired weapon.
