Load for .45 Colt using 230 grain LRN bullets over Bulls Eye powder
OK, I admit it: I'm hidebound. Long ago I found a single load I liked for every caliber in my collection, and I've stuck with those loads. They all burn Bulls Eye.
A buddy recently gave me a large quantity of .452, 230 grain lead round nose bullets. I regard it as a shame and a sin to let a gift like that just sit on the back of my reloading bench. My old reloading manual is no help. Anybody got a recipe for .45 Colt rounds using these projectiles over Bulls Eye powder?

I also use Bullseye for ALL my handgun calibers, including .45 colt.
My usual load is 7.2 grains Bullseye, BUT with a 200 grain cast bullet. Gives me about 900 fps from a 6" barrel. I have used up a few boxes of 230 grain cast bullets in my .45 colts, but I backed the Bullseye off to 6.0 grains. Sorry... but I don't remember the speed. It was a pretty mild load. Good Luck... Joe

I've used as little as 5 grs. with a 200 gr. bullet. My standard Bullseye load for 45 Colt is 6 grs. with a 260 Keith.
