Browning SA22 loading problem

I have a Browning SA22 semi-auto rifle my dad bought for me when I was a kid. Some how the magazine tube has turned inside the stock and now the loading port is blocked. In the butt of the stock there are two slots in the magazine tube that would accommodate a tool larger than a screw driver.
Has anyone run into this problem before? I can make a tool that will fit the slots in the magazine tube. Can the tube be turned inside the stock without causing damage?

Yes, the tube can be turned. Just turn it back to the right position, then tighten the retainer as tight as you can, the tube gets twisted when you turn the magazine tube to lock it in place or to remove it.
