Cleaning Kits
I'm looking to buy a good rifle cleaning kit. Does anyone know of any kits that work really well?

Hoppes, a "basic" cleaning rod, and some old rags and patches have kept mine and my grandads rifles clean for years and years.
I dont think you need a specific kit. |

I recently bought the Remington squeegie cable pull kit that comes in a tote bag. The squeegies are ok as a replacement for patches, but I still keep a cleaning rod that breaks down in the kit too for brushes. I mostly like it because I can carry other cleaning supplies in the tote part of the bag.

I like Otis, but many don't like pull-through which can get stuck. I think breech to muzzle cleaning makes sense.

There really isn't any good kit that serves all needs, so most shooters eventually just build their own kit.
Buy a fishing tackle box and label compartments for each caliber. Buy GOOD one-piece stainless steel or carbon fiber rods and buy the tips, patches, and brushes for each caliber. This way when you add a new caliber, all you have to do is buy tips and brushes. Usually, for rifles and shotguns you can get by with two one-piece rods, and one pistol rod. |
