Question about NC Handgun Law
I have a question about receiving/carrying a handgun in North Carolina. I can't really understand some parts of the law. Thanks for any help you can provide.
1) It is illegal to purchase a handgun, a) without a permit and b) under 21. But is it legal to receive a handgun from a family Member (as a gift) if I am 18 and have a pistol purchase permit? 2) If I am 18, I can legally open carry a handgun if I own it legally, correct? I know I cannot buy a handgun, but it is my interpretation that if I acquire a permit I can legally own (not purchase) a handgun. Sorry for asking this, I just wanted to make sure what is/isn't legal. Thanks again for your help! Regards, -Mo.

You should be able to get a copy of the state firearms regulations from state web site or for sure from local government.

It's like $5 for the permit and $2 for online processing here, I think.
