What is the lightest cap n ball revolver?
As the title says, aside from such things as pepperbox's, and novelty stuff. Just want to know what the lightest one is that actually has a barrel? I'm thinking this will be my next bp purchase something light~ish.

They're definately fun sized. I've heard tell of folks shootin' .32 wadcutters through those, however I only used rounballs when I still had one. I liked it so much I ccw'ed it on numerous occasions. I would say the next step up is a 62 "Colt"

Did you have problems with the loading lever. I was reading the reviews on Cabelas and more than a few mentioned the loading lever not going far enough to ram the ball, that and the cylinder is bored smaller than the barrel..

Only trouble I had with mine were the safety notches were too narrow for the hammer. Mine was reasonably accurate too, so I would assume barrel/chamber relationship was good.

The .31 caliber 49'er Colt well be one of the lightest factory made cap and ball revolvers. No loading lever keeps the weight down. My baby weighs in at 1lb 7.4oz unloaded.
The Colt Trapper model would be one of the lightest .36 cap and ball revolvers. Again no loading lever and the lug is drilled for a Mushroom loading tool. The Colt Police Pocket or pocket navy would be next in weight with the added loading lever, creeping and pivoting style. Fluted cylinder shaves a oz maybe. |
