Where do you competition shooters place your trigger finger???
On the pad or at the 1st joint??
I have also heard you should press with the bottom of your trigger finger.
I shoot mostly HK's which have a very different trigger than my 1911's..
Any help would be appreciated,
thanks

The first joint is generally used for a revolver. A semi-auto with a short trigger like a 1911 clone you should use the pad of the finger closer to the tip. This area of the finger has the most tactile response.

With a pivoting trigger like your H&K, depending upon the trigger pull weight, it may require a little more finger closer to the joint. Just remember to pull straight back without any added pressure to any side of the trigger which would pull your shots left or right.

Thanks Nad,
This does work, I have taken lessons from PPC champs (they favor revolvers)
My Dad and a close friend of mine (ex-Navy SEAL) both favor revolvers also and they glide the trigger guard straight back and squeeze the trigger at the very end of the stroke.
Both are incredible shots and I have used this technique with sometimes mixed results.
I shoot very well using both methods but really must decide which one to use.
Any thoughts on this...
