Colt 6900 'Light'

Can anyone tell me about it? Flat top, with a free-float hand guard and 1:8 twist, no forward assist.

Thanks

This appears to be a "budget" rifle made to compete with the lower priced rifles offered by many other makers.

The rifle is apparently assembled from Non-Colt, non-mil-spec parts.
Whether Colt is actually assembling the rifle or some one else is building it for Colt is unclear.
I've heard it's actually built FOR Colt and it's just sold under the Colt name.
This rifle is intended to sell for some hundreds of dollars less then the Colt-standard LE6920 series.

In addition to no ejection port door, no forward assist, and a free floating hand guard that eliminates the delta ring, barrel nut, wave washer, etc, the barrel is not chrome lined, and the lower has a trigger guard made as part of the lower, which is definitely not made by Colt.

I've played with them a good bit (I'll post pictures later once imageshack gets back up and running) and to me, the trigger is the biggest difference between it and other guns. It just feels odd and the components are not what you're used to either. Not per se bad, just odd..

It goes bang when you pull the trigger, right? I've always liked simple, reliable "entry level" weapons. Seems like this is meant for a specific audience, maybe not for all the gun wonks on this message board

I have a 6920, but was curious about the 6900 because it has 1:8 twist and a flattop upper. It is also $1400 at my LGS.

I know times are rough but the suggested retail price is $900.
