What are your favorate ball powders for 45 ACP?

As far as I know 231 is still being sold. That said, I suspect at some time in the future they will drop it in favor of HP-38 which has the same characteristics.

Yep, they are still producing 231. I have used it for some time now and have no complaints.

W231.....can't beat it! The only thing that W231 has against it is.....it works itself into the Lee powder dispenser making it drag a bit. Other then that it's a great powder, consistant and fairly clean!

Just got a pound of titegroup from a friend to try out. He's had good luck with it in .45ACP and several other calibers I believe.

Titegroup for the 45acp is hard to beat especially mild target loads, accurate
low recoil and a real cost saver with large number of rounds per pound can.

Yeah a buddy of mine had a 4lb jug of it and gave me a pound out of it.

Yes I have a pound of powder in a mason jar in my shed with a handwritten label on it.

I used to love AA#5, but have found I can get the same velocities / power using HS-6, and it meters a lot better (less "staticky") in powder measures, at least in mine, anyway. After I've used up the #5 I have left (using it in mid-power LRN target rounds right now), it'll be HS-6 from here on out exclusively.

Put it in a dark container. There's a reason powder is always sold in dark containers. Heck you could even cover the mason jar with duct tape. Exposure to light is bad for powder.

I like 231. If you want to try a flake powder I'd reccommend 700X. I think the 700X burns cleaner.
