10mm reloading favorite loads?
Just got a 10mm and ready to start reloading. Does anyone have a favorite load? I already use Unique for some other calibers, but that is the only powder I see listed under the 10mm that I already have. The Accurate #9 looks like an interesting powder.

YUPPER. Try the 170 grain RCBS SWC over 7.5 of IMR SR4756. Same charge with a 180 jhp but work it up in your gun; it should be max with the 180.

I like 8.7 gr of Power Pistol under a 180gr FMJ.
I also like 12.0 gr of Blue Dot under a Nosler 135gr JHP. 800x, AA#7 and #9, are also good performing powders. |

OK, got the dies, shell holder and some 180FMJ target bullets to try. I already have Unique powder for lighter loads and use it for 44spl, 44Mag and 45ACP as well. I went with AA#9 powder since I can use it for hotter loads in 41 Mag and 44 Mag too. I was also looking for Blue Dot powder since it was recommended by a forum member, but I could not find any at this weekend's Denver gun show.

I broke in my new Kimber 10mm last year with this recipe:
(used) starline brass WLP 5.2 gr. 231 Speer 180TMJ LOA appr. 1.256 By the end of 350 rounds, this recipe would group 2" at 50 yards in this particular pistol. It also appears to be equally accurate (within their respective individual capabilities) in my EAA Elite Match 10mm and in my SA Omega. For some 10mms, you may want to reduce the recoil spring weight to 16 or 18 lbs. Jim H. |

Mountainclimbr, which 10mm did you buy? I have a S&W 1006 and I just picked up a 22 lb Wolff spring for it because I am getting tired of chasing brass out of the county.
My old 10mm loads were built using Bullseye and were nothing particularly special nor worth sharing. Recently I picked up a pound of AA#7 and I'm working with 175 gr LSWC. Going from an older Accurate guide and starting with loads at 9.2, 9.5 and 9.8 grains. Max from this old guide is 10.2 grains. I loading with a COAL of 1.272 which is slightly over spec, but seems to sit nicely in my brass and also in my chamber. I can't wait to get them out and send them down range.

Mike McNett (of DoubleTap Ammo fame) has loaded 200 grain Hornady XTP's with over 10 grains of 800-X. I loaded 200 grain XTP's with 9.3 grains of 800-X and was quite satisfied. They worked really well in my S &W 610, with no extraction problems. When I fired them in my Colt Delta Elite, they recoiled pretty stoutly (even with a 24 pound Wolf Spring) and chewed up the brass a bit. This is a fine load for hunting, but you would not want to spend an afternoon burning up 200 rounds of them. It would just be too tough on the gun.

My 10mm was a Fusion Firearms Traditional Hunter Long-Slide. Here is 16 rds +1 of Doubletap 200gr Wide Flat Nose Gas Check Hard Cast Beartooth bullets. This is at 50 ft, no rest, two hands. I have 3 supplied springs, 22, 24 and whatever came installed. I shot all this with the installed spring and don't know what it is. After 800 rounds in a month the spring is doing well.
Here is American Eagle 180 FMJ also at 50 ft, but standing, resting shoulder against the firing lane side barrier. It was three o'clock and I did not have lunch yet so tried to steady shaking hands! Edit to add: I think I shot the remaining rounds in the box, 4 or 5 or 6, on this target in addition to the 8-rnd magazine. I wrote on the targets before I shot them and did not notice. If you try to count the holes you will see this was more than 8 rounds. But, resting left shoulder on the lane divider and two hands. I have not gotten the opportunity to shoot for accuracy from a rest yet. I am looking for 50-100 yards accuracy!
