Dry moly spray???

Anybody else use dry moly spray to lube their 1911? It works great and is dry after application. dries to a black thin coating. Can be removed with brake parts cleaner. Try the inside of mags and the feed ramp areas and the contact areas of the slide. You can also use your regular lube over the moly. Chuck.

I'm not a fan of dry lubes. I prefer to use something that I can see and feel for my self esteem's sake.

Dry lubes, especially the moly/graphite based ones like Dri-Slide work well as lubricants, but normally don't offer much protection from corrosion. They're also messy and usually end up staining your clothes and hands with carry guns, in my experience. I pretty much like to use one product on the whole to clean, lube, and protect for simplicity's sake.

I've heard of compatability issues between aluminium and graphite, but I do not know if this is true.

I use a lot of Molly Dry Lube on moving mating parts, like the inside of Ruger 10-22 reveivers where the bolt and rod/spring assy move back and forth. That is one application where you don't want to use a wet lube because the crud that's blown back into the receiver area mixes with the wet lube and gums up everything. Molly is very good at lubricating trigger parts too.
