anyone use Mil Comm or Hoppes Elite oils and cleaners ?

anyone use Mil Comm and/or Hoppes Elite oils and cleaners ?

what do you think of it ?
any feedback good or bad would be appreciated

I got a little tube of Mil Comm oil/grease with my new P220 and it seemed like pretty good stuff.

I can't find out a whole lot about it either.

There are so many gun care products and variations out there that I just am boggled and cannot try them all. I have gone back to using Hoppes regular #9 again lately, but had been using 1968 mil surp. bore cleaner. Got a can of stuff that foams down the bore in a spray can, but never worked up the nerve to try it, and see if foam accidentally gushes out the end of the barrel all over the place! Did get a bottle of Gunzilla at the gunshow Sunday. Just because it is so radical being nontoxic plant products and all. Tried it on one gun that was already cleaned though. Not much else came out. I suspect that alot of products are just interchangeable variations of a formula, and about the same effectiveness. Except for the specialised copper dissolvers, etc. I am still sticking to Breakfree and FP-10 for lube duties with no probs. If no one else posts on your products, be a pioneer and write a review for us!

I bought several of the Hoppes Elite cleaning products and I think they are great. I used to use Hoppes 9 and the like and would fume up the house for hours but the Elite stuff seems to clean very well, is non toxic and has little or no odor. At this point I have no desire to use anything else.

I've been sold on Hoppe's since the 1950's when my dad would come home from hunting and clean the 16 ga in the basement...just loved that smell. I'm now in my 60's and have not had any bad outcomes with Hoppe's over some 40+ years of shooting...long and short guns. Someone told me about Kroil. I bought a can recently and ran some through the barrel of what I thought was a well cleaned revolver. The white patch came out with some black residue, albeit slight.
Do I now switch? Any experiences like this out there?

I use Hoppe's #9 grease for the slides on my semi-autos, works great.

I use the milcomm tw25b grease on my sigs's rails, then breakfree on all the other fun stuff. The grease is great, and it styas where it needs to be.

I use the Hoppes Elite solvent/cleaner. I do not think it cleans any better than Hoppes #9, but it doesn't smell up the house, either (my wife's request). It works just fine- no problems, but it is a bit more expensive than I'd like.

Hoppes' Elite Cleaner is MPro-7 repackaged and sold under the Hoppes' name.

MPro-7/Hoppes' Elite is the best cleaner I've ever used. It is the only thing that'll clean carbon stains off the face of stainless revolver cylinders.

For relubing or field cleaning I still use tried and true Break-Free CLP and LP.

Kroil is a penetrating oil, not a powder solvent like Hoppe's #9, Shooter's Choice, etc. However, when mixed with a solvent, the solution seems to do a better job of cleaning. I just checked Midway - it's still sold there, and on sale at the moment. However, I noticed that they have added the words "Bore Cleaning Solvent" to their description. I'm not so sure that's true - the solvent part. I'd bet good money that the only thing that's been added to their product are the words themselves. (And the words aren't on the can in the picture.) It is a good quality, and conveniently packaged, penetrating oil with a few "proprietary" ingredients including trimethylbenzene in a very small quantity. Maybe that's the solvent they're talking about. It's not a very good powder solvent.

I use M-Pro7 and if Hoppes Elite is the same stuff, repackaged, it's very good. No odor, non flamable, and (as stevelyn posted) cleans the carbon off my stainless cylinder with minimal effort.

Milcomm's products are excellent, and the real deal. Lots of folks claim their products are mil-spec and used by "special forces", etc..etc..ad nausem. Milcomm TW-25B has been used for many years by the U.S. military and others, mainly on crew-served weapons. Highly recommended if you're looking for an outstanding lubricant and grease. I've used their products since 1997.

Hoppes Elite products suck in my opinion. I've tested the whole line for a few months now and I do not recommended any of them. I also believe they're the same as the Mpro-7 line of products, which I tested several years back, and hated also.

Kroil, as mentioned, is an excellent penetrating oil, and works great for bores, especially in conjunction with JB Bore Paste to remove heavy fouling.

The Slip 2000 line of products appears to be excellent. Instructor Pat Rogers recommends them, and that's good enough for me.
