Reloading question
Not sure if this the right place for this but here goes, can some of the reloading guys answer me this, what is the heaviest bullet available for the 6.5x55 and could it be loaded to produce good energy for short range shooting,up to 100yds and would such a creation be capable of wacking driven wild boar??
Thanks, |

Just about any weight 6.5 mm bullet will do fine on boar

Hornady 6.5 cal. 160 gr round nose
This bullet loaded properly is capable of taking anything that walks in the No. American continent with the possible exception of the big bears.

some foreign countries do not allow handloading. something to ponder. norma ammo is the standard to match in almost any place in the world. their ammo in metric calipers is ussually max loads....nothing concrete in this info just ruminating. bobn

I don't think you'll have any problem with the 6.5 and boar - in Europe. After all, it is of "European" origin. The 6.5x55 is a very fine cartridge
Look at www.hodgdon.com for some loading information. |

The 6.5 x 55 is probably one of the best all round hunting cartridges there is.

Keep in mind too that the 6.5x55 is used extensively in Scandanavia for moose hunting.
A fine cartridge and rifle, have fun on your hunt! |

If you stick to the Hornady 140 grain Interlock flatbase and a snootful of H414, you won't find a deadlier combination in the Swede. If you have to use a 160, stick with the H414.
