NiteSiters on a serrated ramp?

Hey all,

I can barely see the front sight on my S&W 442 in low light. Has anyone tried Nite Siters on the ramp of a serrated front sight?

I know on their website the manufacturers suggest superglue to help secure them but I'm a little worried about whatever coating is on the blackened stainless steel coming off - or of it just not staying on.

I'd love to hear any success/failure stories regarding this. Thank you very much in advance.

Yes, I've tried them. They are fairly cheap and you can try them, but

1) They have to be re-charged so carry a flashlight,
2) They only hold a charge for an hour or so, slowing dimming to nothing,
3) They eventually will fall off.

My final solution (made it bigger):

Hunt - thanks for the response. That's either an XS Big Dot or Tritium vial I think. I wonder how much it would cost to have something like that put on? It looks like it would help a lot.

Thanks for enlarging the picture, that's a really nice view now. While 150 is not bad at all, the 8 month wait would get me

But hey if the gun lasts a decade or so it sounds like a good deal right?

I think so.

Once you put in your request to have this work done, the wait is roughly 8 months until they get to you. However, once they notified me that I was next, I sent the gun to them and they had it back to me the next week. So, you have and can shoot your gun that whole wait period. Not a big deal. Also, once you have the dovetail, a replacement can be done at home.

Aside from buying one of the more expensive S&W j-frames with the pinned front sight, I think this is a good solution.

The nite siters do work. They just aren't a long term solution and they have limited light time until they need re-charging.

Ah, so they don't hold on the your firearm for the whole 8 months. That's MUCH better.

I have mounted them on two guns with serrated blades. No additional glue.
I place one wee drop of Testors Flourescent Green on the Nitesiter, and I don't care about glowing in the dark.
