What kind of wood are M44 stocks made of?
I need to know, as me and my father are going to get a cheap M44 nagant from SOG, and we plan on lighty refinishing it.
We really don't mind not being "Correct" in the orignal fiish department, but we want it to look nice...And if we know what kind of wood the stock is madeof , it would help Thank you in advance! |

many are made of cheap european walnut, lot of sap wood, some are a little better, and I have heard that some are made of birch. Don't know about the birch though.

looks like birch, as best I can tell..Too light for maple or walnut.
