SMLE #4Mk2 Weak Ejection?
I have a SMLE #4Mk2 that barely dribbles the empties over the side of the receiver, (sometimes they just lay there on top of the next round), no matter how hard & fast I work the bolt. The rifle is in UN-issued condition, so I don't think the ejector is worn out (it looks as new as all the other matching parts). The ejector itself seems to be a simple screw coming into the port side of the bolt raceway. I've tried screwing this screw in as far as it will go, but with no improvement. The cartridge rims hit the tip of this screw when the bolt gets nearly all the way aft, but obviously, not hard enough. Am I missing something???
Thanx, Dave.

I can't recall that ejection on my SMLE is strong at all. Haven't shot it in about 6 months but I remember leaning down to pick up the brass. Normally, I'd suggest replacing the extractor spring and/or extractor and then perhaps the ejector to trouble-shoot ejection problems but would have to look at the gun first.

Try replacing the ejector. Yes, it is just a simple screw, but length is somewhat critical, as is the strength of the extrractor spring.
