NRA Defensive pistol?
I'm new to shooting, so I want to get up to speed with some good training. My range of choice (Shooter's World in Phoenix, AZ) offers Basic Handgun, which I've already taken, CCW certification, and Defensive Pistol 1 & 2. Has anyone ever taken the Defensive pistol classes, and if you did, what was covered? The salesfloor guy said to bring 350-400 rounds for each day, as there was alot of range time involved. Just investigating what they actually teach, and if it's worth it.

ask this question on www.arizonashooting.com there are several employees and instructors from that side of town over there.
But to attempt an answer: Defensive Pistol classes from other instructors typically covers a protected gun position for kissing distance, half hip/three quarter hip type point shooting OR front sight press type shooting. Additional topics usually include weak hand shooting, kneeling, sitting and stuff like that. |
