Went to the show to pick up some 30/30 flat point 150gr. I ended up with a box of RN 150gr. These are the Remington factory overrun bullets,BTW. I know the theory behind not loading spitzers in tube fed weapons, but has anyone loaded roundnose ammo in their Winchester or Marlin? They don't have a true meplat like the FN, but the bullet tip is pretty blunt. So am I stuck with 2 rounds in the magazine?

Round nose bullets will work just fine. Hornady makes 2 bullets for the 30-30. A 170gr flat point and a 150gr round nose. I have fired hundreds of the 150gr RN with no problems whatsoever. Enjoy!

A lot of people say no roundnose either, but I think the most telling fact in this arena is that Winchester loaded roundnose bullets for their tube-mag. guns as far back as 1897, which is the earliest Winchester catalog I've examined.
At one time, for .30-30, Winchester offered FMJ bullets.

Go ahead and fill the tube
I have loaded and shot hundreds of those same bullets, Rem 150gr Core-Lokt, with no problems. The best accuracy I got with those was with Reloader 15 at 2250fps from My 336C.

Thanks for the answers guys! Time to go home and stuff them over some IMR4320-my pet load $26 for 250ct of 'em I couldn't resist. It would have been a good deal even if I'd had to load them in the .308
