Well that was slick Sir. I have to ask what made the difference between the two powder strength, concerning their burn times do you think? Different chemicals, Dextrin, or perhaps length of time you ball rolled each? Thanks for the great video's brushhippie.

Thanks Mr McGee! Im not real sure, the first batch I used a different scale and I think the recipe has to be very close to be good and I think the mix was just off a little....but heck even the bad stuff is fun.

Mix: From what I read to date. There are so many recipes written. The one net site I found interesting was (http://www.musketeer.ch/blackpowder/recipe.html) Like you say even a miss on the recipe can be fun. Thanks again, tom

I have seen this, and honestly I was excited by the prospect of trying all these different recipes....however the old guy that taught me is like, why would you want to do that? Ive spent thirty years trying them all and Im tellin ya this is it.....so Im trying to just perfect my system where my powder runs consistent.

Wow, I was sitting on the edge of my chair, watching your video, waiting for you and my computer to blow up. That looked soooooooo dangerous...

Very well done! Always wanted to make my own powder just to know I could if I wanted/needed to. Where did you get the indredients (you might have said but I forgot)? Why not try a sulfurless black powder next? Heard you don't really need sulfur if shooting percussion. Would be interesting to see sulfurless shot from a cap and ball revolver.

Bushhippie,
Have you explored or experimented with different woods for your charcoal, and what technique are you using if so ?

Yes, Willow, followed by Alder, Holly and Ash.
Here is a very simple graphic I just made. I make a batch when
I light the grill. You need Foil and a Kabob skewer.
Just make sure step 8 is air tight as soon as the flame is out.
