ok iam new at this i have a scales but when i put fffg powder out of my the brass this that it said it is 90gr it wieghts like 64.8 any one have a cart or something i can go by

Go out on the internet and type in "Weight Conversion" and look around to see what like. I've seen many charts and you should not have a problem finding one. Good luck !!!

if you are loading cartridge ammo it needs to be compressed by the bullet, other than that it need to be measured by volume.

HI ya all.
When i load bp brass for my 58 rem ,i start with my bp flask wich has measured spouts ex 15 25 35 , i fill the case which is 45 cal with 25grs of bp then i use a cork wad then fill the case to the top with cornmeal or grits , make sure there is no airspace between the powder and the bullet. so get out there and burn some bp, it makes for a great day.

Real BP can be measured either way, because powder measures are calibrated for the weight of a given volume of Holy Black. IOW, 70gr of FFg BP weighed on a scale really does fill a BP powder measure to the 70gr line.

I chose 70gr because that's the Goex Cartridge load in my .45-70 Sharps behind a 535gr Postell bullet. It requires a powder compression die to seat the bullet without deforming the bullet nose. I normally use my Dillon electronic scale, but on a whim borrowed my stepson's brass powder measure from his 1858 Remington revolver.

70gr of BP weighed out in the Dillon goes right to the 70gr mark in his brass powder measure.

That only holds true for Holy Black. For 777, Pyrodex, APP, you're out of luck.

My rifle likes the following load:

500 grain .460 bullet, cast from a Saeco mold;
120 grains Goex 1F, compressed to .650 below the case mouth;
1 .030 veg fiber overpowder wad;
1 .030 grease cookie (SPG lube)
1 .030 veg fiber sealer wad.

Bullets are dipped to the crimp groove in SPG, allowed to cure and then run through a .460 sizer. Rounds are loaded with no crimp applied.
Norma cases, and Remington Magnum primers.

My rifle is a C. Sharps Bridgeport Sporting rifle, chambered for .45-120 Sharps Straight.

Here it is.....I LOVE this rifle!

(By the way, have you loaded with Swiss 1.5F yet? If so, how do you like it?)
