Savage O&U 24v headspace

Guys my Savage 24v has a wore out or loose hinge pin that is allowing increased headspace. I have a slight side to side movement after lock up. My new 30-30 brass is showing the dreaded ring at the bottom of the case body at the head. Can a gunsmith replace the pin to a larger dia and tighten up the lock-up?

I'd suggest you contact Savage Customer Service, before entrusting it to anyone but a qualified doublegun 'smith.

Or send it to Trinidad State Gunsmithing School. They'll give it to a student to fix (that's how we get our points in repair class). We get more points if we have to make replacement parts (rather than slap in and adjust factory replacements). The students do the work under the eye of a very experienced gunsmith (dang, he even knew how they attached deck plates onto battleships).
