Replacing 1911 sights
Are the dovetailed sights removed/installed only in one direction? That is to say, is the dovetail milled asymmetrically (wider at one side than the other)?
Pistol in question is a Kimber; stock rear sight has a set screw which I got loose without buggering it up.  New sights are Truglo TFOs. I had a Para C-6 several years ago, and IIRC, the rear site came off right to left, and went in left to right. I've also read that some of the first TFO rear sights were a loose fit. |

The usual standard is that sights are installed by pushing from the right side, and removed from the left.
"Most" sights have a slight taper to make sure the sight is tight in a dovetail when installed this way. |

I grabbed a brass punch and a small hammer, drifted the originals out, and the TFOs in. Piece of cake, and they look great. Appear to be as bright as my Trijicons in the dark, and the fiber optics pick up ambient light nicely, especially with overhead lighting (room or sun). Now, to the range
