Minimum case length for .223?
In trimming some odd lots of 223, I ran into a batch that (once-fired) are 1.73" long. I've been trimming others to 1.75" (Maximum in the books is 1.76").
I think 1.73 is still usable, but it got me wondering if there is a "minimum" case length? As I also try to end up with an OAL of 2.26", will the lesser length of neck affect accuracy at all? |

my book says trim to length 1.750. that small amount of difference shouldn't hurt your accuracy. Over length cases can result in more than just a loss of accuracy. It can cause pressure spikes. I would keep them separate and shoot them as a group. If you can't find a difference your good to go. The short cases will grow as you know and soon will be in spec.
