Gun ownership map

You know the usual forwarded e-mails that we all love? Well, I like to verify the truth of them. This morning I received on that I cannot find anything about. It shows the murder rate versus ownership rate. I can't say that I have any faith in this map but I would like something more solid than simple assumption. Does anyone know anything further on this?
