NJ "Mischief Day" Shoot, October 30th.... RANGE REPORT

Guys,
All went GREAT with the fundraising shoot. We had over 25 participants and 30+ people in attendance. 2 were from the 1911 forum, 4 were from the AR15 forum and the rest were from NJCSD and word of mouth.

The weather held out for us with no rain (like a typical Buckeye shoot!) but it was overcast the whole day.

1) The first event was the all famous Buckeye rope shoot at 1/4 thistle rope from 20 yards. Only once did we advance all the way to the 5 yard line. Lane one was the hot one as the majority of finalists came from this lane. We had a total of 8 finalists that did a 4 on 4 shootout with two of them going up against each other for the best. I can not name names since I did not ge their approval to do so.

2) The second event was the clay shoot. Again, we shot with 6 individuals on the line shooting at 5 clays with 6 shots against a white papered background from 20 yards without advancing. We had a total of 6 finalists that shot it out with a "husband and wife team on within the final group. The wife finished first with the husband a close second. We joked around the the hubby that, "When she said do the dishes, you better DO THE DISHES!!"

3) The third event was the pin shoot. We shot a 4 pins from 20 yards with 6 rounds each. The winner of the overall event was pbr46 of NJCSD fame.

4) The fourth event was the "self-defense" course. Shooters shot at a B-28 target starting at 3 yards with 3 rounds from the interviewing position, retreating while firing 3 rounds, taking cover reloading and firing 3 rounds with the weak hand, then retreating while firing 3 more rounds for a total of 12 rounds.The winner of this event was a Barnegat cop that was off duty and showed up for the festivities. He made sure that everybody went through the same way as he did so it was fair. He won by 3 points.

5) The fifth event brought a NEW direction in shooting at Buckeye. We introduced for the first time the rifle. From 50 yards, the participant moved on a vertical line from 50 yards to 30 yards while engaging 5 bowling pins with ten rounds. I don't know about all those fancy AR's but their operators need to practice! My commie gun (Norinco SKS) kicked butt and I won out.

6) The sixth event dealt with two teammates advancing from 50 yards to 30 yards head on, TOGETHER, keeping side by side while each engaged 5 seperate bowling pin targets. Again, My commie gun (Norinco SKS) kicked butt and I won out.

7) The 7th and last event held was from 50 yards, 5 rounds standing, 5 rounds kneeling, reload with 10 more rounds, 5 rounds sitting, 5 rounds prone at a B-28 target. No score was kept.

Overall it was agreat day!

Nobody left with any holes that GOD did not give them naturally.

We had a good showing of local law enforcement with a Barnegat Police Officer, a Ocean County Sheriff's Officer, and a Monmouth County Sheriff's Officer participating and having a great time.

A special thanks goes out to Phil from Brick Armory for supporting us.

Buckeye also made out pretty good by picking up 2 new members for the hunting club.

Glad the event went well Ray. We were all a bit worried that we had not seen any pics or heard from you post-shoot.

Next time, we'll need to make sure that there is no PA/NJ conflict so we can get these shoots up to full capacity.

We had 16 guys on the firing line at 9:10am and it was pouring rain.

Next time we'll talk before we plan our PA/NJ shoots.

I don't know if there will be another W&W one with all the rumors running around.
