You know what one of the keys to having a good photo is?

Take lots of photos and never show anything but the good ones

I think many of us are going to go "broke" as there is no way after viewing the utter beauty contained within this thread that human nature alone can withstand a "1911 Buyer's Binge" and, perhaps, an extended one at that!

Thanks. The gun is blued, no special finish, just a very high/fine polish before bluing.

Thank you! lol....you have that rail though. A little jealous. I have the SIG XO bare bones carry gun only. I changed the grips out. To 10-8 performance "dirty olive" awesome. However....tapatalk application has changed it's policy. And I can't upload any pics -.-

I only throw the hogue on for the range. My massive hands love them.

I'll try to upload it through TFL instead of this app.

I never cared much for 1911s

Looks like I'm late to this party! I never cared much for 1911s, but recently I've appreciated them more. I didn't care for their feel, and I consider myself more of a revolver guy, although my "Mr. Hyde semi side" is pretty strong as well.

Here is one I just got, a 1911 (1920) pre war commercial government model. I think it either belonged to Bugs Moran or John Dillinger, I haven't decided yet.

Here is a pair of Colt MKIII National Match 38 special midrange wadcutter guns. The top one dates to around 1964 and the bottom one to the early 1970s. Both in their boxes. (I submitted this photo to the TFL Oct photo contest in the "general discussion" section. Vote in Nov!)

Here are 3 of my other 1911 variants. The top gun is the "are you Sara Conner" special aka AMT 45 longslide (no laser sighting). Under it is the same gun at the bottom in the previous photo. Then we have a satin nickel Colt Combat Commander 45 unfired, ANIB, and finally a Colt mustang pocketlite 380.

Here is my brothers 1911 that he keeps in my safe. It was his first pistol purchase, what a gun for the first one. Its a series 70 Gold Cup National Match 45. So I guess me and him have Colt leanings, hey, they're classic.

This thread has some staggeringly nice hardware in it.

I won't be buying my first 1911 until after I'm finished with school in 2014, because I've decided not to go budget with it. My first one will be a Springfield TRP, Dan Wesson Valor, or Colt Government.

It's a hard choice. The TRP is probably the most duty-oriented, run-it-hard gun, the Colt wins for authenticity and being a classic, but the Valor is just entrancing, an absolutely beautiful pistol.

Thanks for sharing, all. Goodness, from Kimber Raptors to 1965 Colt National Matches to Ed Browns, what a great thread so far.

Zen.45 just posted one of my favorite 1911s (bottom), the "Konsberg Colt" aka M1914. These were licensed copies of the 1911 for the Norwegian army and were made in Norway. During WWII the Nazis took over Norway and made some of these with the parts on hand, then they actually made some with Nazi markings although I read they weren't issued. The WaA nazi ones are pretty rare, but to find any M1914 of them nice and all matching is a hard task. All the parts you can think of were actually serial numbered, frame slide barrel manual safety, grip safety, mainspring housing, trigger, barrel bushing, and perhaps a few other parts.

I missed one Cabelas had, 1945 date, all matching for $1300....I think it was a good buy....very nice gun. I called and it was sold. Now all I want to see is a full custom 1911 by Armand Swenson - my dream 1911. A Giles 1911 would be cool too. No one has posted either in over 6 pages.
