Bolt stuck on K98K

Hello everyone!

I accidentally tried to assemble the bolt on my k98k without the extractor collar and now it's completely stuck. Thinking that the metal ring around the bolt might have moved into a position in which it locks the bolt, i tried wiggling it with a screwdriver, unsuccessfully. Can someone please help me get the bolt unstuck again?

Been there. The collar needs to be rotated so the extractor tabs are aligned with the bolt ways, then walk it out using a probe to get the collar out of the front ring, working your way around the bolt while keeping backwards pressure on the bolt handle.

Scorch is right. Make sure that you keep the little part of the collar at 3 o'clock and compress the collar. It is spring steel that is a tad bigger around than the bolt when the extractor isn't in place and it is stuck on the lug in the rear.

Thank you all for the good and detailed replies. I will try this first thing in the morning when my patience batteries are recharged.

Try removing the bolt stop all together just unscrew the screw and don't lose it. then do the above suggestions and pull it out

I remember a pair of right-angled circlip pliers would have been good for dealing with this to pinch the collar lugs as you pulled it back through the bridge.
