Upgrade?

My BT-99 (Low rib) really doesn't fit me too well. Been thinking of changeing the stock to an adjustable one with alot of "cast-off", or leaving the stock alone and adding (After market,glue-on) high adjustable rib.

When I line up the sights, instead of a nice tight figure "8", I get a sight picture with about inch between the front sight and the middle sight.

Has anyone here been down this road and able to throw a little light on my problem?

Do not know where your at, but right now it's a good time to find a stock fitter.

Spending a few hours with a fitter will do more good than a do-it-your-self job.

Then your stock can be altered to fit you or another stock altered for fit.

Great car.

I've talked with a couple of "Stock Fitter/Fixers", and Didn't feel comfortable afterwords. One guy talked about "Hot Oil Bending", but won't be responiable if the stock breaks. One guy working out of his "Q" van wanted me to drop off the stock, and he would send off to "His Guy" and His Guy would ship it back to me. (?)

I was talking with an old guy (he uses a High Rib) that I've shot against for 10 or 15 years. When he started shooting, he glued a yard stick to his rib and used a jack plane to get the sight picture he wanted. Hes 80 and I'm 70 and I always call him "Sir".

There is a shop in northern Michigan "Fieldsport" they will do a fitting, but it involves range time with their guns. They have "try" guns that have adjustable stocks. The stocks are adjusted to your shooting style. They give you the dimentions and a stock maker can adjust your stock(hotoil) or alter/build one just for you.

Check with Mike Orlin in Maine he does barrel and stock work, has a very good rep. Everyone from Shotgunworld that has sent work to him has been very happy.
