Lcp vs lcp differences ????? + improvements

Left is older model lcp I got long time ago, notice sights difference in both. And where the hammer rest on both. The new one on right trigger pull is much less 50% I say. Did anyone else notice improvements?

The sights look like an improvement. Are they doing the old Gen1 Gen 2.thing?

I have two of the older ones and the trigger pull takes all day with minimum sights. My wife just bought a new one and the trigger pull is half the older models and the sights you can really see. The new models don't have a dash in the serial numbers either. I want to know if there is any way to send the older models back to Ruger to be retrofitted with the new firing system. I guess I'll have to call thech support to get a clear answer. I sent an email and got a vague answer on the subject.

I would like to have the better trigger system also. I guess a call is in order in Ruger. As far as the sights go I really don't think that's going to make much difference in a close encounter or contact distance situation. But I will take the new "notch" if they are offering.

I posted this other day when I bought mine. http://thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=520328 this is at round 20 yards. 12/12(ignore 10-15 yards I was wrong), I remember shooting my old one 7 yards hardly hitting it!

Durn near bought an LCP. Local gun store had one couple weeks ago for $300 and nearby Fleet Farm had a sale last month for $280. I wonder if they were the last of the 'old' models going out the door cheap?

Thanks for the post. If I see them again I'll know what to look for.

I'm seeing lots of talk and pictures on the Ruger pistol forum about a "new and improved" LCP. Ruger has not loudly proclaimed it, but evidently they have made some subtle improvements. The new sight is obvious. An improved trigger would be a welcome change.

No cost difference.
The improved model has better sights(more prominent) and the hammer sets back further for a shorter pull. The old model has a higher serial number but has a dash after the first 3 #'s. The improved model starts with a lower serial # but no dash.

I have the newer version but have not fired the older version to compare to. I can say that the trigger feels nice and have read that the older design had a not so nice pull. As mentioned, the newer version is known by the missing "-" (dash) in the serial number, as well as the obvious improved sights. I don't believe there is a price change from old to new.

Shot both of my lasermax LCP's. One is the older version. The "new" version is definitely easier and more consistant to keep on target due to the noticably shorter trigger pull. The sights are better on the new version as previously stated. Both are WAY more comfortable to shoot than my trusty P3AT ; which has a tough trigger slap. Both LCP triggers are better. I like the Lasermaxes on these guns and how it changes the balance; might get a 3rd

I called and spoke to Ruger. They are not offering to change the trigger even if we were to pay for shipping and the cost of the service. There is no program in place to adjust The triggers. And there will not be a program. As far as the lady knew.

I like the trigger pull of my LCP. I've had mine for some time now and like the extra travel. To me, it's become second nature to fire the LCP and I like knowing that it's a long trigger pull - especially since I carry AIWB.

Interesting. When was the design changed?

I bought an LCP last summer. Old design. The trigger doesn't bother me, but better sights would be nice.

I called Ruger last week to get a new trigger assembly put on my 3 digit dash LCP and they told me they could not change anything on the gun that was not originally on it when purchased. The way it came in is the way it will ship back out with no customization allowed. So, I sold my older LCP and bought the newer one without the dash. Love the new trigger, Ed

The "new" Ruger LCP is refered to the "LCP Enhanced" by Ruger. It contains a greatly modified trigger, and much more usable sights. They're nice little guns. The original LCP had very small sights, and different trigger that most people got used to and could eventually shoot quite well.

The latest LCP offering has a stainless slide. I don't know if the new slide is there only to compete in the looks department with Kahr, or if it's heavier and will help to tame recoil. I hear people complain about the LCP and it's "sharp" recoil, but it honestly doesn't bother me in the slightest.

I bought the new LCP with a SS slide yesterday. $345.00 with a Visa (for my points) OTD-not great nor bad deal. Love the trigger pull, fit and finish, plus the small extension plate on the base of the mag. This little slim-jim will fit just about anywhere comfortably-better than most anything I've tried for CC. They are getting rave reviews on feeding just about anything without FTF issues. I think I've found a keeper. Why pay $600+ for a fancy name with less reliability? Yes, I like the sights for practice, but likely will not be using them if I need to use the gun in a defensive situation.

I bought an LCP when they first came out. For me it was a PIA to shoot.
I sold it and purchased a 9mm Kahr and never looked back.
Perhaps if I had a new model I would feel differently...

Dang, I just purchased a slightly used old version,,,
And yes, it has teeny sights and a long pull.

I actually like it though,,,
The pull is long but not too long,,,
I believe that I will simply get used to it.

Now if I have a chance to sell it without taking a beating,,,
I would peddle it so I could get the newer version,,,
An OD green LCP would compliment my others,,,
Others are a Raspberry SR22 and a Lilac LC9.

I still haven't been able to do any serious practice with it,,,
That first day I ran to the range and ran 21 rounds,,,
It was really just to ensure the gun worked.

I did notice the snappy recoil,,,
I use the word snappy because it wasn't painful,,,
It's just a reasonably powerful cartridge and a very small grip.

I bought and installed this Handall Hybrid grip from Hogue,,,

Everyone tells me it makes it feel like a different pistol.

I really want to like this little gun,,,
I have a natural affinity for small things,,,
And this is just about as small as I can go in a handgun,,,
I think the LCP is as close to an ideal carry piece for my needs and taste.

I've had both versions and I like the newer model much better. I could take or leave the sights.....it's the improved trigger that I believe makes the biggest difference. Love my little LCP.
