Anyone have a S&W Shield?
I disassembled my 40 Shield and when I put the slide end cap back on, it snapped into place and seems to have locked on the nylon striker housing. There is some vertical play in the slide end plate, however. The play lessons dramatically when on the frame. Is this normal? It appears that the metal end cap sides are fitting in the slide slots correctly.Thank you!

I just looked at mine and I definitely do not see that gap at the top.

Is there no gap with the slide off? Does it moved if pressed on? Thanks from Houston!

That piece slides in and out when the slide is dissasembled.
Make sure there isnt debris under the piece where it slides in I hope you get it set up.......My shield 40 is my favorite pistol

Yup its installed right, that is not the problem. There is just about 1-2 mm of movement vertically when it is put together correctly.
