Glock 23 question
Yesterday I took my 23 apart to give it a thorough cleaning (after approx. 16k). Went to the range and it double tapped every time I fired it. No, I wasn't riding the trigger. It was so fast it was obvious something was wrong. Stripped it down again and put it back together and everything is fine. Can't figure out what I did wrong??? Can any Glock people help me - don't want to repeat the mistake. Have ordered all new internal part for slide. Don't think it was the trigger.

Could be a spring that wasn't fully seated. Maybe the trigger bar and dosconnector weren' quite lined up properly. Hard to say for sure. Glad it's fixed for you now.

You need to get a Glock Armorer to look at it.
But if you don't want to/can't do that, you need to get this: http://www.lonewolfdist.com/Detail.a...OD=523&CAT=179 It will let you check where the cruciform/striker tail are meeting. You will be able to see it with this plate in place. If you have done a "trigger job" and changed this relationship to the point it is falling off during recoil, you can get into the condition you are speaking of. (It can also happen due to wear over time, and 16,000 rounds is quite a few) Don't shoot it again until you get this checked out. If you don't have at least 66% or more of the cruciform on the striker, you need to get a new trigger or striker, or both.

No trigger job. Thanks for the help - all is well for now - the new parts should be here soon.

Just be careful.
You don't want to get into a situation where you are having a gun run away with you and spray rounds all over the range. For safety reasons, if nothing else.

I'd take it to someone before taking it out again. |

If the latter, yes, you need to seek out a Glocksmith

Here's what I have discovered. The trigger safety spring was not engaged properly and I had what is called a "slam firing" situation. Apparently the first time I re-assembled the gun I did not have the spring turned into place (it must be turned counter-clockwise to seat). Since it was not in place, it allowed the firing pin to fall, i.e., "slam fire" after the first round.
While I have done a complete strip cleaning of this gun on many occasions, I will be definitely be more careful next time. |

Thanks for the info. Ive had my apart 3 times and always turned clock wise. I've had no issues but will remember not to turn clock wise again.
