Experience w/Stevens 200?

Academy has one of their Black Friday specials Stevens 200 bolt guns in just 2 calibers - 270 or 7mm-08. I've had the yen to play w/a 7-08 and this would be a cheap way to do so at $240. However, I also know that this is the bottom end of the Savage/Stevens line, so it won't have the Accutrigger or any frills (cheesy light colored synthetic stock). Main question is what sort of accuracy to expect? Anyone shot one of these? Would I be disappointed buying the bottom end gun?

Can't comment on the model you note, but I recently bought a Savage w/accu-trigger in 7mm-08. It is a very acurate, cost effective rifle. I would highly recommend it.

I have a Stevens 200 in 7mm rem mag. Your right cheap stock but for the price who cares. This rifle will shoot 5/8 inch groups at 150 yds. with 150 gr. Wolf Gold Line ammo. For a rifle under 300 you can't buy a better one.

I had a Stevens 200 in .300 WIN MAG. I won it at a gun bash and traded it for a Savage 110 in 7mm-08. I love the 7mm-08 round and I am very happy with the trade. The guy who has my old .300 says it shoots as good as his Remington. But that is second hand opinion so take it for what it's worth.

I love my 200 in a .308... tossed the stock as soon as I got it and went for an aftermarket setup... but for the price, the 200 is spot on.

I've fired several of that rifle model in several calibers. It is far and above the best rifle in that price range.

I just wrote a post praising this rifle a few days ago (in .223) A friend bought one and is shooting groups WELL Under 1/4" at 100 yards. Completely unmodified.

i have the 200 in, 223, 30.06.
both are excelent shooters.
did a crylon camo job and they look good now.

its easy to tune the trigger and mine are 4lb.
i didnt want the scope pacage as the scope was cheep and was gonna walk so they sold both as gun only and just laft yhe scopes on. ( proof their cheep ). i just put them on a cupple .22 i had over at the barn.

it would be real hard to find someone that can shoot better than the gun can.
i plan to get the complete line eventiualy now that i know how they shoot and found a way to make them less fugly.
