My .17HMR has been great. It is extremely accurate and the action is the smoothest I've ever seen in a lever gun.

Have the Henry Big Boy in 44mag. It's accurate, fun to shoot, slightly heavy and way too nice to take into the deer woods.

It's the only lever action I've ever shot, but I really enjoy my Henry Golden in 45 colt. Shoots reasonably tight groups at 100 yards. Have never jammed in hundreds of rounds. Very enjoyable gun.

I have had only the best of luck when dealing with Henry. Their products are well made and shoot great. Customer service is also top notch. They sent me a free barrel for my Survival rifle when I called and told them I thought the barrel was worn out. Great company.

Dad has one of their .22 levers.

It is outstanding and is the smoothest lever action I've ever used, besides being very well made. It is a Best Buy IMHO.

I have a Henry Goldenboy and it is a sweet rifle. Super high quality. Smooth action, high end finish, flawless performance, highly accurate.

I have a Henry Big Boy in 45LC. Very nice rifle. With several hundred rounds fired its still doing its job flawlessly. Have to admit I really like the lever action on it. Very smooth

I truly believe they are fine firearms and their customer service is awesome.
I bought a H001 used it had an original factory plastic front sight. I called the company and they sent me at no charge a metal front sight.

I don't know if a couple of months is "resurrecting" an old thread, but I have to weigh in on this. I'm an FFL, and got a Henry H004 for resale. When I opened the box, I took a quick look at the walnut furniture, the care with which the rifle was built and assembled, and decided right then and there to keep it. I have an old Marlin 39A original golden, and I love it, don't get me wrong, but the crap I've seen come into my shop from the "major" manufacturers lately depresses me. Quality is a thing of the past, in normally priced guns. I'm sick as heck to be sending gun after gun back to the "major" manufacturers after a couple of rounds, for warranty work. I find myself excitedly recommending anything that works out the box these days!
The Henry is well built, of quality materials, and is made in the USA. Add outstanding company support, and you've got a winning combination.

Now, as to the rifle itself... I wish the drop at the comb was like the Marlin. My 39A welds to my cheek perfectly. And while the brass buttplate is way cool, it's too slippery for good times on the plates. Between the low comb and slippery buttplate, the gun is all over the place when going for low times on steel cowboy targets. Now, my Marlin has a Williams target sight, and the peep/bead combination is a killer combo for fast accurate shooting. I'm new to the buckhorn sight, so it could be my fault, too. I come from NRA Hi-power shooting, and the peep sight is King.
But, after thousands of rounds, the Marlin action is still not as smooth as the Henry was out of the box.
In summary, I have to keep both. Because they both rock!
Now, to get the Action Target Dueling Tree out to the range for some lever-action fun with my buds! I only wish .22 ammo was more available. I'm shooting A LOT lately!

Their standard blued 22LR and 22MAG rifles are an ERMA design that is an outstanding design as well.

Henry's 30-30 is an awful design and should be avoided unless you think its fun to keep sending your rifle back to factory for warranty work. Henry's craftsmen build pride into their work but the engineering department is mediocre at best.

I love my Henry 22. It has been great. The entire warranty is :

We offer a simple limited lifetime warranty; if you have a problem at any time, and it's our fault, we will correct the problem immediately and at no charge. The warranty does not cover excessive wear and tear to parts, and accidental damage.

My Golden Boy 22 lr is flawless, now I want another Henry in 357 mag because I load 357 mag for my pistol and can use the same ammo in the rifle.

Going to weigh in here.

I've only shot a few hundred rounds through my .22 lever (octagon barrel) but it's the smoothest action you can imagine, i've heard it called buttery smooth, and i would say and then some!
I find it amazingly fun to shoot, just a pleasure and i don't particularly like .22LR.

Out shooting with a friend, he was scoped with a .17HMR, hanging golf ball set out for his sights (don't recall the distance) but i tried and could hit it with the factory iron sights without much of a problem, standing, not trying too hard.

Finish etc on the gun from the factory was very nice, it felt special to open that box and 'receive' it

Henrys are great dependable rifles. Have a Henry Big Boy in 45LC, which I purchased new about 5 years ago, and it has consistently proved itself to be completely reliable and accurate. My personal opinion is that you cannot go wrong buying a Henry.

The Goldenboy is just a classic gun that I love. My .22 has always shot true with minor cleaning involved.

I have a Big Boy in 357 on my short list if "need to acquire soon guns". It helps that they are made in the USA and that Henry is right here in NJ!!

The "traditional profile" stock is too low for a cheek weld. Try one's fit first.
