Cz 82 parts availability?

Not all 82 and 83 parts are compatible. Some 82 parts are unavailable. What are you looking for?

Im not looking for any right now im looking to buy one for a friend as a gift. It will be his only pistol. are these prone to have issues?

No issues. Just DO NOT TAKE APART PAST FIELD STRIP unless you are good at puzzles made with springs. Mine is one of my favorite pistols and VERY accurate.

I took of the grips to try and smooth out the mag drop....mistake. Two hours later it was back together.

Isn't asking on a gun forum precisely the right place to do that? Not necessary to be confrontational to a poster, the entire point of this forum is to answer questions like that. If he was asking what models of Glock are the 9mm versions or something of that nature, sure, that can be solved with a Google search, but parts availability is a fuzzier issue.

OP, I realize it may be cost prohibitive, but if parts aren't forthcoming you could always have a second one on hand for parting out.

Don't TOTALLY disassemble one unless you are a pro smith. Lots of tiny parts. The PM is a tinkerers model as it only has about 30 or so total parts.

If I remember correctly, you can find some parts for the CZ-82 on www.buymilsurp.com. I have gotten parts for a number of guns there, and they have always been priced very reasonably. Most are factory unissued parts. I've bought from them quite a bit, and been satisfied every time.

I bought a Wanad P-83 recently and even tho it functions and works fine I ordered a spring kit from http://www.buymilsurp.com/ just to have in case.

I operate under the "well it may be not broken now or ever but...." & "plenty of parts available now but.....ex. 3 yrs. from now" meaning I have spare parts for all of my firearms packed away in oily bags.

As parts like spring kits and small parts like hammers, extractors, etc... are relatively inexpensive depending on the firearm if you have the money and room for parts buy them.

Not in my experience. I owned four of them, but two broke. Used guns are always a risk.

Hmmm...How did they break?
My own CZ82 was purchased in one of the first surplus imports, when they were extremely unknown.
It had multiple chips in the paint, and the grips were pretty bad. It looked well used.
Yet, in the years I have owned it, nothing has broken, and it has never jammed.
It has also proven to be very accurate for me.
Might as well throw in a pic of offhand shooting results at 25yds. I did some minor finishing on my CZ, and added Marschal grips.

Nice looking gun.

On one the front sight fell off and the slide catch lever spring fell out.
The second one had the sear fail, turning the action into DAO.
The third one worked OK.
The fourth, a .32 acp, functioned fine but the mag was prone to rimlock with most ammo brands.
