Barrell Blueing?
Stupid question. When you are blueing a new barrell, do you blue the inside also? Thanks.

If you hot blue it it will get blued on the inside but any bluing inside won't last long.

I asked the same question when I had a barrel hot blued.
I have at least one well used factory blued barrel where the bluing hasn't worn off of the interior. It must be because the lubed patches actually protects the bluing. Shooting conicals might be a different story. Last edited by arcticap; January 5, 2009 at 03:17 AM. |

I didn't blue down the barrel on the Lyman. And it hasn't affected anything for years.
I didn't do it because I couldn't figure how to do it evenly. I never thought about it coming off. Guess I did the right thing. See this just proves those kits are almost idiot proof.
