Unless I'm drinking alcoholic beverages out in public, yes, I am armed.

I don't even take the trash to the curb for "curbside pickup" without a gun on me. In fact, when I go to the shower I have a gun in the bathroom with me. Some people think I'm paranoid. What if someone broke in while I was in the shower? It would really suck to not be able to "greet them" appropriately.

I've seen too many "normal" situations go bad to trust my fellow man. If I knew I was going to need a gun I wouldn't go to that place if it could be avoided.

I agree with the BikerRN carrying all the time makes the same kind of sense as wearing a seat belt every time I drive and helmet/protective clothing while riding the bike. However remote the need for those safety devices might be, when one of them is needed it's NEEDED RIGHT NOW!!!

Carry at all times

I carry everytime I go out unless I have to go somewhere at which I am not permitted to carry.

I am in agreement with Biker. My wife gives me a funny look as I walk by with my Ultra CDP and towel to take a shower. I am almost to the point where if I can't carry my gun with me I don't go there.

whenever Im not in a school or a courthouse, I've got a gun on me.

It's the nature of the business I'm in that I gotta be armed.

We were on our way to church recently (I was driving) and asked DH to hand me my sunglasses. He picked up my purse and said "you're carrying in your waistband".

"Huh? How did you know that?"

"Because it isn't in your purse."

Every single time when I go out, and at least 80% of the time at home. Home invasions, which statistically rare, happen way too often in this area for me to pretend "it could NEVER happen to me."

Yes, every time.

On the rare occassion that I am in a hurry and am not carrying, my Isuzu Trooper has a Glock 29 in a secret place, Mercedes SLK 280 has a Kahr 9mm, and Honda Accord has a Glock 19. I'll just tuck which ever in my waistband, and off I go.

I never leave home without at least one pistol on me. There are also dedicated firearms in each vehicle.

I try not to get out of arm's reach of a firearm in the house but I need to get better at that.

I've got one pistol in my pocket as I sit here typing. I'm about to put my shoes on before going to the grocery store. I'll put a 1911 in the holster. Leave the house with two pistols and two knives.

If I think there might be trouble somewhere, I don't go there.

The only place I don't carry is where I work, and even then, my car isn't 10 yards from my cubical!

My thoughts

Do I carry every time? I did pay a good deal of money for my firearm as well for the permit. I took the class I practice and shoot often. For me to not carry would be a waste for money. The ONLY times I do not carry is when I KNOW I am going to the local drug store where it is posted not to carry, or the baseball game. I dont like keeping my weapon in my vehicle, many times has by truck been broken into, lucky never with my firearm. To make it easier mentaly for me, I have modified a safe that fits underneath my back seat and its bolted down by the seat bolts. I went to gander Mountain, bought a 45$ safe and cut about 6 inches off the top, re-welded the top back on and added bolting plates. Theo nly problem is if (and only 1 time has my vehicle been searched) I have to open it to show officers whats in it. And I do it gladly for my brothers in blue.

For someone else who has their firearm and permit and carries less that 70% of their time, is a waste. You NEVER know when you will need it. I do not care what people say. If you say, well I am just going to the to McDonalds why would I need it? Your an idiot. Criminals are called Criminals for a reason.

I started this post to make the point about those who say "I don't carry if I'm going to a safe place." I did not anticipate the number of responses this post has received. I am pleased.

Thank you, all. Keep it up.

Why Wouldn't You?

As stated earlier, it cost time , effort & money to get my permit. Why would I NOT carry?

In my house the rule is we don't walk out the door W/ out a gun & I carry at home

Do you put your seat belt on when you think your going to have an accident?

Do you pay your life insurance when you think you might be dying?

I stopped carrying for a while (2 years ago) even then I only carried when I was with my girlfriend or whenever I decided too. Now I try and carry as much as I can, even sometimes around the house. I dont feel like I'm anymore danger than I was a few years ago, maybe the age and wisdom thing is true after all.....

I carry on my person whenever possible. I can't carry at work, but I always have a handgun in the glovebox of my vehicle.

I always carry something. Exactly what depends on my evaluation of the threat.
