.45 auto Hornady 200 grain FMJ-CT (SWC) over 6.5 grain Unique, ~850 fps.

And no, I don't worry about using handloads for any purpose.

I generally run PDX1 or Golden Sabers in my guns, also usually the heaviest for caliber. So generally a 147, 180 or 230.

Mostly 230.

Remington 125grain JHP .38 +P. Whatever Walmart sold in social purposes .38 when I picked this up.

It shoots low in my snubs. But, it'll do until I can find an "FBI load" clone that will shoot to point of aim.

Bullets...

At one time, they were silver. Now, they are gold (either dots or sabers - depending on caliber). If that doesn't work, I go old school - 8 or 9 balls of lead.

.45 ACP has 230 gr. HP's,
.357 Has 125 gr. XTP
AR has 55 gr HP

Are are handloads, all are moderate velocity, shoot well and easy to control.

45 ACP 230 gr HST in semi-autos

45 ACP revolvers 230 gr HST +p mainly due to having a bunch of it and not planning on beating my autos up with it, though clearly any N frame can handle that and more.

380 has federal hydrashocks as they work in Seecamps and come in 50 round boxes of which I have 6

357 J / K frame 147 gr silver tips

357 ruger / L frame 125 gr gold dots

45 colt, rarely used as a primary self defense arm, either the Silver tip load or whatever woods load I am carrying.

When it comes to the 357's I have I have been working back to having the above loads that I prefer, with the ammo drought I got fairly far away at times due to what was around. That is the nice thing about wheel guns, one need not test fire for feeding reliability.

In general If I have a 125-150 gr projectile at reasonable velocity I am happy. I have a bunch of 38 +p remmingtion SJHP that was 19.50 for 50 so at this point it is cheaper than most 38 ball ammo on the rack by 2 bucks so it will be practice ammo or if I had to I would feel out of place carrying that though it is not my first choice.
