Since $$ is no object, I would suggest you go to Mitch Rosen (.com)
A buddy brought over one of his holsters and a catalog....MR does some great work. He shows a few different shoulder holster styles for the 1911.

318... instead of posting three times in a row... you know you can edit your previous post, right?

Ya i know, i was talking to myself. Puzzles me how their can be soooo many reads on a thread and no replies. Especially when questions are vanilla to veterans but not to new guys. My idea of cussin without getting booted.

You have to expect carry guns to take some abuse and get some scratches, its a tough reality that all CCW/open carriers must face. It's a work gun, and its only time before it takes some kind of asthetic abuse from daily carry.

Maybe that one should be a safe queen, or a range gun only.

Not being mean, just realistic...I had to come to it with my PPQ. Good luck!

I like shoulder hosters too. I have been toying with a vest system from
http://coronadoleather.com/ but haven't gotten one yet.

If you haven't done a search here, and google you should. I have liked the Miami Classic, from reading about them. Wide shoulder straps are good, narrow is bad, all day comfort wise. I have an Uncle Mikes vertical shoulder holster for my S&W .44 mag and after wearing it all day it bites my shoulders.

You're aware of horizontal, under the arm pit, and vertical close to the side and usually attched to the belt, and dressing accordingly and how your physical activity will affect whats hanging under your arm.

The name brands are a safe bet and they have so many different kinds of leather you can get what suits you. There is most likely going to be a wait. I have some holsters from El Passo Saddlery http://www.epsaddlery.com/default.aspx and like them, especially their floral carving.

I'm waiting for a holster from Andrews Leather. http://www.andrewsleather.com/traditional.htm
They look good and have the style I was looking for.

I'm and outdoors kind of guy and live in bush Alaska so my types of rigs are geared accordingly, over coats and or with backpacks.

Hope this helps.

rayban,
I think 318 is looking for a concealment holster,

not a chest holster.
