Here's my 2¢, old Mossbergs such as the 46B and Marlin model 60 are fabulous shooters. I bought a new Mossberg made in S. America, not so good. My Marlin I stupidly sold to my buddy, too bad for me.

My only .22 rifle right now is the Remington 521-T that my Father bought new in the late 1940s.

I don't have any of them, and don't expect to get into them, but I've always admired the under lever single shots and the split breech single shot .22s.

These were rifles like the old Stevens "Crack Shot" and the Remington Rolling Block as examples.

Many years ago I was a youngster at the Wright family reunion. Seeing I was bored, a distant cousin called me aside and produced a Remington Rolling Block and an ancient box of .22 Shorts and told me to "go down to the pond and shoot some turtles."

Still have my first rifle, a 1950 vintage Marlin 39A.

The most fun a person can have with a rifle is the SW MP15-22! That being said, the most accurate 22 rifle I ever shot was my Dad's Remington 511 Scoremaster. One ragged hole with ANY 22 ammo!

I love vintage 22s.

My first rifle was a Marlin 60 one of the ones with the squirrels on it. That gun was awesome I used to shoot prairie dog and rabbits way out in the fields. I hardly ever cleaned it when I did I wondered why it even still shot. and with out jamming.

I still own and shoot a Remington 41P Targetmaster that my Dad bought back in the thirties.
It is by far the most accurate rifle I have.

Nice photo line-up there Mark. They look really nice.

Stumper.......... do you own all those you listed ?? Great compilation !

I do have a Stevens Crack-shot..... was my dad`s first gun when he was 10. I`m still in the process of getting it away from my dad`s second evil wife.

One of my favorites is a Winchester 1890. I`ll try to post a photo if you`d like to see it.

As a good friend told me one time,,,, ""I have never met a 22 I did not like.""

I do not collect 22 cal rifle or handguns, but i have gathered a number of them over the years.

I picked up two old rolling block 22 for the grandsons. Not only safe and fun to shoot, they can hang them on the wall someday and say, old pops gave me that..""

My favorite range gun is the M-2 Springfield (think 03 with a 22 LR barrel).
My favorite plinker is a Norinco Mauser 98k lookalike in 22 LR. It was $119.95 when I bought it years ago.

I have a really nice 10-22, set up for Appleseed shoots, but I don't generally get into 22's... although I just finished relining a pair of Crackshots ( I bought my 2nd matching one, at the last gun show ) these are old enough, I just shoot Colibri's & Super Colibri's in them, but love shooting these old gallery guns...

I'm in the process of stocking up on small plastic animals ( from rats, to dinosaurs ) for gallery type shooting on my range

My Remington Nylon 12 Bolt action 22, What you see in the picture was bought by me new in 1961, I believe I paid 39.99 or 49.99 for the rifle, dont remember what the cleaning kit or the scope cost. Still have it after 50+ years

I have a couple of them too..One is an 151m-b had a scope on it but not an origional one (I think) also have a 346k, (store brand) I have replaced the firing pin on but it really needs a bolt or at least the bolt body..I ordered one but it wasn't the right part..That rifle came from my dad and the "gunsmith" said it couldn't be fixed (years ago) he never even put it all back together right..I pulled the reciever out and parts fell out, screws and all..There was a round still in the tube even..Some gunsmith he was..Now trying to figure out how the parts go back in, I have exploded views and stuff..Also gonna get me a rear site (peep type) for the 151m..and the swivels for a sling..

The Remington Nylons rifles are an excellent choice for collecting.

I have a 1933 model 33 Remingtom single shot. It was a prokect gun my daddy never got done before he passed. I brought it home and rebuilt it. It sure got a lot of attention/use at the last family fun at my club.

Winchester Model 69A.

Adjustable trigger and very accurate. Best $200.00 I've ever spent on a firearm.

Lots of replies here but let me throw my hat into the old Mossberg hat. 1940s (late) and 1950s are plentiful, relatively affordable and parts are available. My 44US(c) has the heavy barrel and routinely shoots 2" circles at 50 yards. I love it.

Pops bought a Remington Targetmaster 22 from a coworker when I was 15 or so, paid 25 bucks and walked in and handed it to me.
Single shot, pull knob to cock bolt action.
Really long barrel, can't remember how long.
It's in California, now I want to send for it!

The old Savage single-shot from the late 40s (?) is almost identical to Rumpelhardt's Winchester. My grandfather used it on squirrels.

How many of you guys/gals also have the Romanian M-69 Trainer? It seems like a mini-Mauser using .22LR.
They were reportedly used to prepare young guys for the army AKs.

You never know where you can find a great 22 looking for a good home. I was looking in the antique section of Craig's List, and found an ad for a 22 rifle for $120. The poster only gave the description "Mod. 67 Winchester". I don't normally collect 22 rifles, but I learned to shoot with a Mod. 67, and I hadn't seen many online or at gunshows. I knew the add would quickly be flagged, so I hurriedly copied down the number, and soon called it. The poster needed the money to get her bird patched up after an attack by her cat. The rifle was the only thing of value she inherited from her grandfather. When I met her to inspect the rifle, it was night and raining. Even in the dark, I could see that the little rifle had only some minor blemishes. I paid the young lady the money, and took the rifle home. On examination of the antique rifle, it was soon apparent that the barrel was packed in grease, and the bolt did not show any evidence that the gun had ever been fired. There was a minor rusting on the barrel from a palm print long ago that had never been wiped off. All the dings and scrapes were on the right side of the stock, indicating that the rifle had been leaned up in a closet, and not protected with a case. I have cleared the barrel and put the rifle in the safe. It's waiting there now for one of my grandchildren, who can sell it someday for money to fix a bird or a rat.
