Are you focusing cash on ammo versus an extra gun?
With the US dollar in trouble, along with the chance of tighter future import restrictions on foreign ammo (or CMP prices for M2 Ball) etc, either ammo or reloading supplies seem very appealing.

I reload for my Garand. It's the only way I can afford to feed it, although I only put about five clips through it per range session. And even then I use the bare minimum of reloading equipment.

Between my FNS 9, saiga 12, and saiga 762x39 I've very happy with the weapons I have.
I'd much rather spend 1k on ammo than an AR or another pistol. |

If you have enough guns, in enough calibers/gauges to keep you happy, then it seems to me a no-brainer that you should go for the ammo/reloading supplies. Not being sarcastic, but I can't shoot more than two guns at one time. However, I can shoot a whole lot of ammo before I call it quits.

There won't be a problem with ammo availability. We cause the shortage ourselves by panic buying. As we did last time.
Increased restrictions will be put on the availability firearms that can be fired semi-automatically, and on hand guns. They will look for what they consider questionable motive to own. Even then, they will prefer to sell you a stamp and enter you into a register than to impose a ban. They are all the same, they all want our money, and they want to be seen by the scared sheeple to be making an effort to control firearms more. It's a shame they won't put that energy into something like solar power or growing our meat more ethically. Mark them words. -SS- |

If I purchased another rifle, I am sure that someone would have me committed. Besides, that would mean that I would have to buy another set of dies.

No such thing as too many rifles. I regret most of the ones I have sold. I believe in the long run, ammo manufacturing will meet the demand for it.

Cannot have too many guns or too much ammo. Just about impossible.

I need more ammo at the moment, but more guns is always good
I've looked into reloading equipement as well, just need to do more research on how to do it. Funds are a bit tight, so i'll stick with stockpiling ammo sloooowly. |

Reloading components is my main focus. I spend my winters coyote hunting and reloading.

I believe that there is no such thing as too many guns or too much ammo. Just bought 25 boxes (500 rnds) of .40cal Federal Hydro Shok JHP at an auction yesterday, just could not pass it up for a bid of $162. A savings of about $250. Also picked up four boxes of Black Hills .38 long colt for my bid of $52, a saving of about $50+. Did I need the ammo? No.

Can't have too much ammo or too many guns...or too many safes
If you ain't reloading...especially given the current anti-gun nuts in WashDC, you should seriously get into it ASAP.

Currently I am concentrating on ammunition, components, magazines, and ammo storage. I have been told I am a little paranoid, I don't believe in the end of the world or anything like that, but I never think that things are so bad that they can't get worse.
I am confident my stockpile would suffice for most any circumstance that would arise, except for maybe the end of the world.

Right now it’s reloading supplies for both long guns and pistol.
I picked up 1000 military 30-06 dated from the early 50’s for very little money. About half of the bullets are pulled and the cases are in process. I also picked up a bunch of bulk 22 caliber bullets. Nice clean 55 GR for about half factory price. I won’t get into the pistol brass and bullets I recently purchased.

Sweet shooter, I am one of the people that "grows your meat". At least beef anyway. I don't know what you mean by having the government put more money into ethically growing your meat but i definitely don't like the sound of it. I got pneumonia two years ago because I worked 36 hours straight with a wind chill of 50 below zero. We never lost a single calf. Not one. I was milking a cow at 2 am to tube feed colostrum to a new baby calf who was too cold to nurse. He was in an insulated pen with a space heater, heat lamp, and i.v. with warmed fluid. I spend more time with cattle than with my own son. I can't speak for everyone but i resent the implication that I raise "your meat" in an unethical manner.
As for the topic at hand.....both. I buy guns, ammunition, and reloading supplies as often as i can.

mdd, I imagine he's thinking about feed lots and the crowded conditions. Don't worry about it.
I've yet to wear out a gun, but I've used up a lot of ammo through the years. To me, the big incentive for ammo and components is the unending inflation in consumer prices. Buy now, 'cause the price will be higher in the future. |

Personally I'm expecting the US dollar to do better against other currencies ... but that's a discussion for other forums. I quite frankly have enough ammo (but do buy when the sale is good). On the other hand, there's always another gun I want so my dollars are being mostly saved for another gun (want that CZ75B compact ). I hope to buy one just before the election if the prices hold flat ... just to make a statement.

I keep buying more loading supplies because, like Art said above, everything just keeps getting more expensive. When I think back to what I paid for reloading supplies 40 years ago versus today it literally makes my head spin!
