Got my 1911 gun kote'd in camo what you think

I had my colt 1991A1 re parked and gun kote'd in a camo patern I wanted a little hint of MARPAT in there. I think it turned out pretty good. Subtle but good what do you think?

How could you have guessed I was a marine lol.
I was a infantry machine gunner or 0331 2003-2007 did 3 deployments to Iraq with 3/1.

I'm not a real big fan of the fiber optic sight either I just Havnt got around to getting a new one yet.

Very nice, looks like a keeper. My daily Carry is a 1991-A1 Compact that could do with a bit of face work. Just like the Gun I carried in the USAF when I carried concealed. A compact for concealed and a full size when in uniform. Yea I know a 45 acp in the Air Force. Yep I was at the time the only Cop that was authorized to carry this weapon. (BEAT the heck out of the standard 38 special S&W Model 15).

I'm kicking around doing something similar to a stainless Springfield Loaded. Was it Duracoat or Cerakote? Duraheat maybe? Did you take the sights of beforehand? What all was involved in the process? It looks great!

Looks sweet who ever did it? did a outstanding job, love how the marpat kinda pokes thru at different angles, I really like it, Congrats, and enjoy and be safe...

Love the subtle MARPAT, I think it looks a bit more organic than full MARPAT.

I like it - especially with that personal touch, AND the rowel/Commander hammer ( a personal fave).

Didja switch out the issue plastic MSH & trigger for steel ones, before you had the gun coated - or is/was the gun upgraded since they were first introduced ?

I was more than pleasantly surprised at the pictures. That thing looks great! I love subdued camo styles like that - especially on rifles like ARs and AKs.

It's all steel no plastic. I got then gun cheap after someone tried to re park it them selves and messed it up. I took it to south ridge arms and refinishing in orting wa a shop close to me. They blasted it down re parked it and did the camo in gun kote. I think it turned out good I'm liking the subtle look more and more. Thanks for the compliments.

One of the newer employees at my LGS is a former Marine.

He showed me his daily carry gun and I was looking at the Eagle, Globe and Anchor on the grips and asked him about them.

He said his wife gave them to him as an anniversary present. The grips are made from camies worn by Marines in Vietnam.

Don't know how they are processed but they are quite pricey. I don't know how one would go about getting a pair. They are supposed to be available only to former Marines.

They were pretty nice.
